I was bullied at school.   Music saved me back then, and probably a few times since.   I am committed to bringing people together through singing and I have a few words to say about my groups.

Everyone is equal, every member is at the rehearsal for a reason that is unique to them and sometimes that might mean someone is a bit fragile.   Let's make sure everyone feels welcome, and accepted,  to help newbies feel that walking through the door isn't a traumatic experience (or at least that it's over quickly)!    

 

If you have an issue with anything at choir please speak to me.   I have been in so many diffferent situations, compicated and simple - and I encourage positivity within my tribes.   Members do not correct each other during rehearsals, that's my job - sometimes just telling someone less confident that you are saving a chair for a friend and they can't sit there might mean they don't come back....   I think you are here because you are already a good human, so maybe this little speech is just to encourage those who don't feel able to beopen and vulnerable with us.  

But if you understand that life is hard enough, and it is our connections to people that nourish us most, then  come  celebrate, and learn a genre of music that only promotes joyful positivity.  

 

I do have high standards but I also have confidence that we can meet them with a bit of work....... and I LOVE IT.
